Fragments of Flinders - Sea Urchin Earrings

NOK 600.00

These earrings are an outcome of a residency on I undertook in Flinders Island in 2013, and became part of the collection entitled 'Fragments of Flinders'. They are created from a fragment of a sea urchin I gathered, which I then took to my studio and sculptured the texture slightly to gently curl around the ear lobe.

My process of exploring islands is quite specific to the shoreline; Tasmania’s edges in particular offer a collecting ground of potential. Flinders is part of the Furneaux group of islands, which sporadically bridge Tasmania across the Bass Strait to the mainland. If you have never been, I recommend it for a retreat. There is something very special in its isolation and tranquillity.
