PODS: 545 Queen Street, Brisbane.
I was commissioned to design a sculpture for the foyer of the newly redeveloped office building situated on 545 Queen Street, Brisbane. The building is positioned in the gateway between the Fortitude Valley and the Brisbane City.
My concept is to create 4 large pod forms inspired by the Moreton Bay fig trees on the West and the Brisbane River on the east of building. I wanted to design a stylized organic form that reflects the environment in which it is situated. The shadow is the key design feature of this sculpture. They were fabricated brass with and cast bronze detail by the team at UAP.
